I’d like to buy

Some insecurity?

$2.92

Thank you.

I didn’t have the current issue.

What a scandal.

That skin!

He climbed El Capitan –

Such drive.

THAT’S a guy who feels alive.

What?

But –

I can get insecurity for free?

Silly me.

I’m always last to know.

Here we go…

Adjust the screen (to fix the gleam)

Scroll the feed.

They went to Mexico?

I’ve wanted to go.

SO BAD.

I wish I was in a band.

No way!

They’re engaged?

Well…I actually don’t really know…

Must have been from camp,

From years ago…

No

Don’t know the guy either.

But man they look tan!

Oh, what is it now?

…I can get insecurity live?

How?

Wow.

But can I really handle any more?

Ha ha jk..

I guess if it’s on the way anyway

…It will be okay.

Okay.

Open the door

Walk down the street

That patio is sweet.

Smells like bbq

But Ramen can be good too, thank you…

That boutique has the best selection EVER

So extensive

So expensive –

Le Che Veaute – La C’est Vitte…

Or however you say it.

That steakhouse looks so classy

Bet working there would make ya happy.

Did she smile at me?

Oh – just cleaning her teeth.

…You know

I think I’m just gonna –

I WANT A CHIHUAHUA!

…I think I’m gonna go.

No

It’s okay

I just feel a little low.

Why?

…Cause I just…

Don’t know

About all this fuss

All this time and cash I’ve spent

Just trying to be culturally relevant…

I don’t know if it makes sense

Using everything as reference

For everything I lack.

The Longings of a Life too Late… https://blog.nathanlandisfunk.com/2014/10/31/longings-of-a-life-too-late/ https://blog.nathanlandisfunk.com/2014/10/31/longings-of-a-life-too-late/#respond Fri, 31 Oct 2014 19:33:07 +0000 http://liveitreal.org/?p=3276 His eyes are closed

Hands resting on his chest

He lies there still and silent

Outward peace and quiet

Inward growing violent.

An unrelenting agony

A cesspool of regrets

But this you’ll never see

He hides it well.

These thoughts that come have done their time

They took a number, stood in line

He never let them in.

So now, defenses all abandoned

No excuses, no delay

No one left to answer them

But him

So now they’ll have their say.

“What did I have to lose?

Why did I let go so soon?

My life a ruin.

Pity was a traitor

Always thought things would change later

Never stopped to feel the breeze

Or slow it down

I let me down

I let me drown.

I had the time, the fault all mine –

I never learned to live!

Religion and my rituals

Deferred the questions burning in me

Made me just a copy

Of my father’s father’s mind.

Eroded my imagination

Feeling this disintegration

I became an ally

To my personal demise.

What was it about me that I just had to focus on?

As if no one else around me had their own lives going on?

I had the time, the fault all mine –

I never learned to live!

If only I’d have conquered fear

And kept to all my dreams

Not found something wrong with everything

And not been scared to lead

If I’d just have been real

And reached out when I had need

Maybe when I got here

I’d not be in agony.

I feared to face the silence

Now it’s here, but it’s too late

Cause now that I’m all ears

It’s past its expiration date.

How sad that now I knows these things

And long to go and give

I’m buried in a graveyard

And have no life left to live.”

To live in the present

Seeing now from the future

Looking back and saying,

“I was right.  God provided.  I’m so glad I never worried.”

Here I am, the trials start again

Eternal glory hangs in balance

And what we see is so small compared to what will be.

I keep my eyes in the unseen.

Generosity, trusting that He

Will provide.  I will not sin

By believing a lie

That He doesn’t care.

Recall the past!

I could be at the bottom of the ocean.

I could be still lost in Pennsylvania.

I have had a great life so far, and there’s no reason for it to stop.

It’s not wrong

To party on.

Heal the Sick, Episode 2… https://blog.nathanlandisfunk.com/2010/09/19/heal-the-sick-episode-2/ https://blog.nathanlandisfunk.com/2010/09/19/heal-the-sick-episode-2/#comments Sun, 19 Sep 2010 07:58:56 +0000 http://funkonventionality.com/?p=627 NOTE (1/12/18): We’re all learning and growing.  Some of the stuff I’ve written in these old posts may no longer be exactly what I believe or think, or at least may not be articulated the way I’d do it nowadays.  I preserve them in an attempt it to be transparent about my journey, and in the hopes that readers may still glean some insight from the core ideas found here.  Thanks for journeying with me!

Welcome back!  I hope you tuned into part one which briefly explained with Scripture why we can, and should, be healing the sick. I want to expand on that more here, give some practical tips on how to do it, and then answer the looming question on whether everyone who is sick should be healed. This is Bill Johnson, the main pastor from Bethel Church (where I went to school last year), looking beyond the box of what many of us church folk have seen God’s will for our lives as.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItLIUWPujg8&w=640&h=385]

So you can see once again, this stuff isn’t optional – it’s a command. Like it says, “Anyone who claims to be in Christ must walk as Jesus did”.  (1 John 2:6) Plus, getting people set free feels pretty swell!

I admit, it’s easier to get out there with people who already do this kind of ministry. But don’t let it be an excuse! There are many people in your life just waiting for an encounter with something real. You have the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead living in you (Romans 8:11)! That’s a lot of power waiting to be released.  Don’t let your experience trump what the Bible says about you.

The final question I want to look at is whether we should be getting everyone healed.  Though I would like to put it in my own words, this article sums it up very well:

http://www.revivalorriots.org/jesus-healed-all

The following video explains healing and the atonement more clearly, so if you don’t have time to listen to all of Curry Blake’s teachings you should check out this video. I haven’t watched the whole thing myself but I understand it’s a good summary.

http://blip.tv/play/gqkx5vAKAg%2Em4v

And lastly, for anyone who has thought that Paul’s thorn in the flesh justifies why people shouldn’t get healed, take a look here.

Remember, Jesus is our perfect example (Hebrews 1:3), and anyone who has faith in him will do what he did and greater things (John 14:12).  Easy concept, but seems to have gotten lost in translation for many.  Let’s get back at it – it will revolutionize the world!

I understand that a lot of people stand against this stuff (I mean just type in Bill Johnson or Curry Blake on google – some people have very colorful things to say about them), and yes, I know some people think I’m crazy and misled and such things.  And if you begin to agree with this stuff, you’ll probably be labeled the same.  But let me ask – is truth always found in crowds? Of all there is to know in the world, how much do you know?  Like the old saying goes…it’s dead fish that go with the flow.  I don’t say this to get you to agree with me – I just want you to just think for yourself rather than relying on your parents, pastor, horoscope, or whatever.  Truth may not make us feel comfortable, but it will make us come alive – that’s why the disciples stuck with Jesus even when everyone else was offended and left him (John 6:68).

I’m in no way saying that healing the sick is the only way to show people Christ.  Indeed I simply want to balance our actions to look like Jesus’. We’ve got to be imitators of Christ (Ephesians 5:1) – and healing the sick was something he did everywhere he went (Matthew 4:23-25, 8:16-17, 9:35, Mark 1:33-34, 6:56, Luke 5:15, 9:11…etc). …However, I am not yet an imitator of Christ yet to the point that I spout off something and then leave without explaining it – get a hold of me if you want to know more or see it happen!

Yup…So you can lay hands on the sick, and they WILL recover.  Too good to be true?  Well…proclaiming healing, freedom, and deliverance (Luke 4:18) is kinda why we call it “good news”.  And even though not every sick person we’ve prayed for has gotten better (up to this point) we can’t use our experience to set aside the commands of God and follow man-made ideas (Matthew 15:6).

So, another part of our mission is clear.  The world is dying for a true demonstration of something to life for. So let’s stop making the body of Christ so lame! You can be the next hero in the hallways of eternity – don’t let the devil tell you otherwise.   Let us show our love for Jesus by obeying his command (John 14:15) to love as he loved. And by knowing the furious love he has for you, you’ll never pass by people with canes, wheelchairs, and pain without wanting to giving them a taste of the freedom that Christ bought…purchased not just for us, but for the whole world (1 John 2:2).  Live it real.

An Introduction… https://blog.nathanlandisfunk.com/2010/06/26/introduction/ https://blog.nathanlandisfunk.com/2010/06/26/introduction/#respond Sat, 26 Jun 2010 23:29:00 +0000 http://localhost/wordpress/?p=24 NOTE (1/12/18): We’re all learning and growing.

Greetings to all my Saskatchewan friends (and beyond)!  Glad you could make it to Funk-whatever-the-heck-that-is dot com.  As you may have noticed, I have indeed launched a website, and am feeling very jolly about it. I’m not the blogging-type of person, but I realized that with all the stuff I’ve been wanting to talk with people about lately, it would take a ridiculous amount of time to try to tell everyone individually. And besides, since me and writing seem to have a thing for each other, we might as well make make it official.

So, these past couple of years I have been on a journey to answer some big questions.  Some of you may recall that I said in a note that I posted on Facebook before I left for California in August ’09, “Ever since Grade 9 I’ve had major issues with why if I’m following Christ my life doesn’t look much like Jesus’ or his disciples.”  I just couldn’t shake the thought that much of what we call church today didn’t seem convincing to me to prove even the existence of God, much less that Jesus is the way to Him.

I did a lot of thinking and learning this past number of years, especially the past two in the States, and for those of you who missed the memo 3 months ago, I’m back in Sask for a bit.  Some people have asked why I came back, and perhaps I haven’t given a truly honest answer yet. Really, though, the reason is because I missed you guys, and because I figure that now I can begin to share with you some stuff that has totally radicalized my life.  (And you thought my website title was the only word I would make up).  Yeah this stuff…it’s pretty exciting.  Kind of like when you beat me in Smash Bros. Except for that didn’t happen.

So that’s kinda what I want to do here. Not trying to say that I got everything figured out while I was gone, have the complete truth, anything like that.  So you don’t have to just take me at my word – check things out for yourself.  The point is to find truth and live it. I don’t want to be one of those young people who gets fired up about something and then runs around unchecked for awhile till the fire dies. Actually, a lot of what I want to show you is stuff that already shaped me before a lot of you knew me.  I didn’t share near as much back then because I hadn’t yet seen in reality a lot of what it looked like to live what I was reading (and am definitely still arriving there).  Finally, and most importantly, my goal isn’t just a website.  I don’t want to just be teaching things, cuz that’s pretty much what the Pharisees did, and they didn’t do well on Jesus’ chart of coolness.  I’d be the first to tell you that the best way to learn truth is to see it in action. What I want to do with this website is encourage and build up the bros and sisters in Christ, the down-and-outers and the ones who are rethinking whether Jesus is the truth, and the ones who are wondering if there’s even any meaning to life, and anyone who’s just curious about what the heck I was doing in California. Hope that together we can do the stuff that echoes in eternity!

So, with that all said, I pray that the eyes of our hearts would be opened to go beyond our boxes and truly know – not just in theory but in reality – the riches and hope that we’re called to, and the unmatched (and unconventional) reality of the great power and sweet lives in store for us who believe!

I will be posting things pretty regularly on the site, so keep checking back. I hopefully won’t just be putting writings on, either – music, videos, other stuff I’ve been feeding off of will all be here as we go on.  Also, as I’m planning to go to San Jose in late August for a few months to be with some hardcore God-chasing friends, I hope to share adventures and things I learn over there as well.  Feel free to facebook, send me a message, or whatever.  And so let us begin!  Love you guys. Live it real.

Look up again, see the new day rise.

The sun is brighter now, it lights up the skies.

The time has come to take what’s done

And show the world who we’ve become.

This day, since we, have lived to see this change

Let worlds collide, let us live inside this love.

Let the new day come.
